After growing up in the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains of California and graduating from Scripps College, I headed south to work at a haunted historic house in San Diego, where I failed to meet a single ghost. Much father north in Minneapolis, I am pursuing a graduate degree in creative writing. The essay “Charade,” written in a dorm room at Scripps College, won the AWP Intro Journals award and appears in The Best American Essays 2015. You can also read my nonfiction in Hayden’s Ferry Review, The Pinch Journal, The Morning News, and Guernica.
As parts of my home state dry up in drought and burn up in wildfire, I’m working on a book about California’s past, present, and sort of scary future.
